At the American School we have work groups that we call committees, academic departments or advisory boards, depending on the nature and assigned tasks of the work group. In general, they are teams whose members express a collective ideology. Each member within the work groups have the right to make comments and to vote on proposals based on equality.
Currently, we have eleven committees: Social Interaction, Diversity, Health, Environment, Discipline, Language, Comprehensive Prevention, School Emergencies, Assessment, Technology and Editorial; two advisory boards: the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP), and a Counseling Academy.
These work groups are integrated by teaching and administrative staff and they all have a coordinator. In general, these are advisory bodies for the principals and the superintendent, who will listen to the proposals and suggestions of each work group, analyze them and determine their viability. Work groups also operate common programs in accordance with the organizational objectives.
The dynamics of each committee, academic department or advisory board will guide the success of our organization and define the personality that sets us apart as an academic institution: we aim to be the school that rises to the challenges and new realities of our global community.
