Francisco Galicia Ortega, Ph.D, received his B.A. in Modern Languages from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) (1978). In England he conducted post-graduate studies in Education at the University of Exeter, and on The Teaching of English as a Foreign Language at the University of Leeds. In Scotland he studied English Literature at the University of Glasgow, and obtained his Master’s (1979) and Ph.D (1988) in Applied Linguistics at the University of Edinburgh.
He has experience teaching from preschool level all the way to postgraduate level in various public and private institutions. He is co-author of several teaching materials published by the UNAM. Dr. Galicia has been an evaluator on behalf of SACS, The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, of American schools in Latin America. He has also participated as a member of committees in charge of authorization visits to various Latin American schools wishing to impart the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. He was Director of the Applied Linguistics department at the Center for the Teaching of Foreign Languages (CELE) of the UNAM, Director of The School of Languages of the Intercontinental University (Mexico City), Superintendent of The John F. Kennedy School of Queretaro, and Principal of The American School Foundation of Guadalajara’s Elementary School.
At the American School of Puebla he was Principal of the High School and taught Theory of Knowledge for seven years. He is a member of the Executive Committee. He has been Superintendent since July 5th 2006. |
