The privacy of your personal information is of the utmost importance to the American School Foundation of Puebla (ASFP). In accordance with the new private sector privacy law Personal Data Protection Act and other current stipulations, the ASFP hereby publishes a privacy statement in order to inform you about how we use the personal information we receive. This document will also inform you about the mechanisms available for you to see your personal information, to correct any inaccuracies, to cancel and to challenge compliance.
The ASFP has to gather personal information in order to carry out the school’s activities. The ASFP has the obligation to comply with legal and security guidelines to protect your personal information. The aim of this statement is to give you full control of the information you provide.

Collection of personal information

The ASFP gathers, stores and handles personal data in accordance with the services it offers and/or receives. You must be the interested party or legal representative of the data provided to the ASFP. Likewise, your data must be correct, complete, accurate and current. In case there is an error or your information is outdated, please inform us immediately.
We can obtain your personal data directly from you or your legal representative and through our web page. Some of this general information is sometimes flagged as sensitive by the Act, so it will be handled with strict security measures to guarantee confidentiality.

Purpose

Personal data provided to the ASFP will be used for several purposes to fulfill our educational commitment. This includes operation activities, academic, cultural, recreational and athletic services, communications and other academic activities.
The ASFP records audiovisual materials and takes pictures of various events, such as athletic events, general ceremonies, parent conferences, student conferences, plays, dance performances, musical concerts, recreational activities, etc. If you become a member of the ASFP community, you agree to being filmed and/or photographed, and to letting the ASFP to use such materials.
The ASFP regularly record audiovisual materials for publicity purposes. If you do not agree to having your image or your child’s used for this purpose, report it immediately to the Personal Data Area, or to the following e-mail address: datos.personales@cap.edu.mx. In case you do not inform the ASFP, the school will assume that it has your tacit consent.
In order to provide our services correctly, the ASFP can disclose and/or transfer personal information to third parties partially in the following cases, with the aforementioned purposes:

  • To banking institutions and other related providers for payment processing.
  • To ASFP employees in order to verify, correct and certify information for fiscal and administrative purposes.
  • To providers who assist the ASFP in ensuring that our services are given effectively.
  • To government authorities, if required.

Security measures

The ASFP has sufficient security, administrative, technical and physical measures to protect personal data in order to prevent damages, loss, alteration, destruction, use, access and non authorized disclosure of them.

ASFP staff is trained and committed to ensuring confidentiality and privacy when handling your personal data.

The ASFP is committed to the security of your data and offering quality service. We are aware of technological developments and the risks that ensue, so we will implement and maintain required, sufficient and optimal safety measures to prevent, as much as possible, any risks to personal data. The ASFP will adopt adequate procedures to solve risky situations immediately.

Your Rights (ARCO)

In accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act, the party whose data is being handled, or his duly accredited legal representative can exercise his right to access his personal data and to details on how his information is being handled, correction of incorrect or incomplete information, and cancelling whenever data are no longer required for specific purposes.

This can be done by making a written request to the Personal Data Area of the ASFP. The address is 9 Poniente 2709, Col. La Paz, Puebla, Puebla, Mexico, C.P. 72160, or via e-mail to the following address: datos.personales@cap.edu.mx.

The access, correction, cancellation or opposition should have the following information:

  1. Name of interested party and address or other contact information in order to respond to the request.
  2. A document that confirms your identity, or the legal representation of the interested party.
  3. A clear and concise description of the personal data concerned.
  4. Any other element or document that may help us find your personal information.

The ASFP will have five working days starting on the day we received your request to access, correct, cancel or oppose your personal data to answer. If the request is accepted, it will be made effective within five working days starting on the day the previous answer was communicated. In case of requests for access to personal information, you will receive access after the interested party or legal representative’s identity is verified.

These deadlines can be extended once for an equal period, as long as the case’s circumstances justify the extension. If you want to revoke the consent you gave to the ASFP to handle your personal data, you should send a written report to the Personal Data Department of the ASFP, where your request will be processed.

Changes to the Privacy Statement

The ASFP reserves the right to update or make changes at any moment of this privacy statement to comply with new legal requirements to offer our services. Any change will be available on our web page www.cap.edu.mx.
